IPIN holds Qur’an recitation competition in Abuja

The Islamic Promotion Initiative of Nigeria (IPIN) in collaboration with Turkiye Diyanet Foundation of the Republic of Turkey have organised its first edition of Qur’an recitation competition in Abuja.

Ja’afar Yakubu of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) emerged overall winner in the male category of the competition.

Yakubu who competed in sixty-Hizif memorization with Tajweed will represent Nigeria at Turkish Qur’an recitation competition while Badiya Sulaiman from FCT, who emerged overall winner in the female category of the sixty-Hizif memorization, will represent FCT in the National Qur’an competition in Sokoto State.

Abdullatif Yusuf from Plateau, who won second position in male category will represent Nigeria in Egypt while Abdurrahman Bunu from Borno State who emerged third will represent Nigeria in Tanzania.

In another sixty-Hizif memorization with Tangim, Habib Yunus from Plateau came first; Malut Muhammad from FCT came second while Muhammad B. Adamu from NASFAT-FCT emerged third.

In his remarks, during the closing ceremony of the competition which was held in Abuja, yesterday, the Chairman of IPIN called on the overall winners to be disciplined and obey the rules and regulation of the recitation as well as continued memorizing the Qur’an.

Also speaking, the Counsellor for Religious Affairs in Turkish Embassy, Ali Kasikirik said the competition was part of effort to the development of Qur’an education.
