Posted 4 months, 2 wks ago
A 32-year-old man identified as Henry Igwe on Tuesday allegedly attacked six members of his family with cutlass in their residential home located at No. 10, Egbu Crescent, Aguogboriga Abakaliki in Ebonyi State.

Investigation revealed that the victims include the Personal Assistant to the Chief Judge of Ebonyi State, Mr. Tobias Igwe and his wife.

It was gathered that the severity of the machete cuts led to Tobias being rushed to an undisclosed hospital in Enugu, while his wife and four others were receiving treatment at the Plastic and Surgical Unit of Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, at the time of filing this report.

One of the victims, Miss Ijeoma Igwe, explained that their brother. Henry. attacked them early in the morning while they were still in bed.

She said,”It was an unprovoked attack. Henry was not known to have any mental illness as at the time of the incident.”

Collaborating the story, another victim, one Florence Igwe, narrated that Henry first launched the attack on the Tobias and his wife, before moving on others when they intervened.

A member of the family, Nwabuchi Onuagaba, said the entire family members, including the attacker had, the previous night, had a family meeting which ended peacefully.

The Public Relations Officer of the State Judiciary, Mr. Eugene Okafor, expressed dismay over the attacks on Tobias, noting however that he was responding to treatment.

Efforts made to get the reaction of the Police Public Relations Officer, Jude Madu, attack was not successful as he was indisposed to confirm whether the attacker has been arrested or not.
