The Lagos State Government on Monday said it would pay compensations to owners of property removed for the construction of the Pen Cinema Flyover.
The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr. Abiola Anifowoshe, said the fear of the owners that the government was unnecessarily delaying compensation was unfounded, adding that the government would fulfil its promise.
He pointed out that state officials had already held a stakeholders’ meeting with the affected property owners during which the details of the flyover project were presented to them.
Anifowoshe said, “It was instructive that at the meeting, the stakeholders welcomed the construction of the bridge.
“The government representatives told the people to submit relevant documents showing proof of ownership and served all the statutory notices and even gave more than enough time for the affected property owners to be aware of the removal.
“As a matter of fact, many relevant documents have been submitted to my office and the compensation process has commenced. The Lagos State Government will compensate everyone involved.”
The commissioner urged all affected property owners who had yet to submit their documents to do so without delay.
