Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is expected to lead the NWFL’s mentorship programme to teach over 1,000 schoolgirls from across the country how to make the best use of the opportunities available to them.
The event, which takes place at the Government Girls Secondary School in Agege, is part of the activities for the maiden NWFL Champions Shield clash between league champions Nasarawa Amazons and Aiteo Cup winners Rivers Angels at the Agege Stadium on Sunday.
In a statement, the Nigeria Women’s Football League said the programme would focus on career and the importance of education and sports.
The league body said Ambode, alongside some legends of the game and NWFL board members, would be part of the mentorship talk.
The NWFL vice-chairperson Margaret Icheen will lead her members to the mentoring of the young girls. She performed a similar role for schoolgirls at the Emotan College in Benin during last year’s Super 4.
Former Super Falcons star Maureen Mmadu Diana Ansak, Adimchi Okanlawa, Precious Dede and Rasheedat Ajibade, will participate in the programme.
