The National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) has sworn-in 1,399 combined corps members deplored to Sokoto and Kebbi states at the permanent orientation camp, Dankingeri, Kebbi State.
They were members of the Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members comprising of 668 from Sokoto and 731 from Kebbi states.
Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, while addressing the corps members, on Monday, after having taken their oaths, said the state government has provided adequate security and proper welfare for them throughout their service year.
Governor Bagudu, represented by the Deputy Governor, Col. Samaila Yombe Dabai (rtd) said, “NYSC had over the years has been able to mould the mind of youths to become the leaders that they are today; you should not be an exception.
“It is my expectation that you make good use of the privilege the orientation programme offers. Equip yourselves with the requisite attitudes and ideas in order to leave a legacy like your predecessors “.
The governor implored them to cultivate healthy relationship among their colleagues and be patriotic in all their activities while in camp and during their service year.
Earlier, the Kebbi State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Barde Usman, while addressing the corps members, disclosed that the 367 males and 364 female corps members were deplored to Kebbi State while 350 males and 318 females who were deplored to Sokoto State, have registered at the permanent orientation camp, Dankingeri, Kebbi State, for the three weeks orientation programme.
“All the prospective corps member have conducted themselves in an orderly manner by responding positively to the realities of the regimented life and obeyed all rules since they reported to the camp,” he said.
