The Oba of Ogbaland in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, Eze Chukumela Nnam Obi II, has charged youths in the area to resist being used by desperate and greedy politicians to unleash violence on their communities before, during and after the 2019 general elections.
The monarch, who gave this charge in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Thursday, also urged the youth to avoid being used as agents of destabilisation by politicians.
Obi urged youths in the area to learn from the past and realise that violence would do more harm than good in any society.
He also pleaded with Nigerians, irrespective of their religious and political affiliation, to pray for peaceful polls.
While advising the political class to eschew politics of bitterness, he appealed to politicians to guard against negative utterances and actions that could plunge the country into chaos because of elections.
