Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has awarded contracts for the renovation of 230 schools in the state.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr Crusoe Osagie, in a statement said the renovation was aimed at providing a learning environment conducive to pupils in the state.
He said work had already begun at Ivbiotor, Ezoti, St. Paul, Obaseki, Okai and Obakhavbaye primary schools, among others.
Osagie said, “The state government is keen on ensuring that faith is restored to the public school system in the state and this will be achieved through improved teaching and learning methods and provision of an environment conducive to teachers and their pupils.”
Obaseki had, during a meeting with contractors, vowed to prosecute any of them who delivered sub-standard jobs in the renovation of public primary schools in the state.
Among other schools scheduled for renovation are Ojirami, Ugbugo, Amegor, Olua, Ivbiyeneva and Uhie primary schools.
