The Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress has begun sensitisation of its members on how to vote during the presidential election on Saturday and the March governorship election.
The party, at the event put together by the Youth Organising Secretariat of the party, charged youth supporters to vote with their index finger on the ballot paper in order to prevent their votes from being voided.
The Youth Organising Secretary, Idris Aregbe told supporters at the party secretariat on Acme Road on Monday that the party felt it was necessary to sensitise the youths on voting tips during elections.
He said the essence was to ensure that their votes were not voided, saying that the party wanted the voters to get it right when they vote on Saturday.
State Secretary of the party, Dr. Wale Ahmed, said the essence of the programme was to create awareness on the coming elections among the youths in the language they would understand.
Ahmed urged voters to use their index finger to vote in order to prevent a situation where their votes would be voided, due to the fact that spaces provided on the ballot paper for each party was small because of large number of parties contesting the election.
“For us in the APC, the index finger is what we should use; it is not an INEC thing, we are advising our followers on which finger to use. Other parties may decide to use the little finger; others may decide to use all five fingers. We are uniform in the APC,” he said.
He charged the youths to come out massively to vote for the APC on Saturday so that President Muhammadu Buhari would be re-elected.
