A bus along Jigawa, a northern Nigerian state lost control and burst into flames as nineteen wedding guests were killed on Wednesday according to the police. The 18-seater bus was carrying 40 women and children who were the wedding guests when its front tyre burst, causing it to skid off the road.
The tragic incident happened on in Gwaram Sabuwa on Tuesday, a village around 100 kilometres (60miles) from the state capital Dutse. “Nineteen people were killed in the accident and 21 others were injured,” state police spokesman Abdul Jinjiri said. A report from the residents said the bus somersaulted and burst into flames, burning the victims alive.
The passengers were said to be coming back from a wedding ceremony in nearby Bauchi state when the crash happened killing at least 12 people and 16 injured on April 13 when a fuel tanker exploded in the northern city of Gombe after falling on its side. Nineteen people were killed a week earlier when a truck crashed in Katsina.
