Despite failing to make a lasting impact at the U-20 World Cup in Poland and the controversy that ensued after they crashed out, Manchester City youngster Adetomiwa Dele-Bashiru says it’s a huge pleasure representing Nigeria.
Dele-Bashiru was on target for the Flying Eagles in their first match of the tournament where they humbled Qatar 4-0 at the Tychy stadium.
Nigeria qualified for the Round of 16 as one of the top five best losers from the group stage but were bundled out of the competition by their West African rivals Senegal 2-1.
Born in Manchester, England, Dele-Bashiru had previously represented his country of birth at every U-16 age grade competition but decided to pitch tent with Nigeria at the U-20 level.
The youngster on his social media account (Instagram) wrote, “It was a pleasure representing Nigeria.”
