The police in Ekiti State have arrested two suspected kidnappers, 32-year-old Ibrahim Babatunde and 43-year-old Ahmed Bolaji.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Asuquo Amba, said in Ado Ekiti on Friday that the suspects were arrested in the state capital following a tip-off.
According to him, while Babatunde hails from Ijan in the Gbonyin Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Bolaji is from Offa in Kwara State.
Amba said, “The suspects were involved in the February 26, 2019, kidnap of one Sanni Amodu in Okuku, Osun State, who was taken to Ikare Akoko, Ondo State, where ransom was demanded before the victim was rescued by the police.
“The gang was also allegedly involved in the kidnap on April 18, 2019, of one Alhaji Wahab Babatunde at Isan Ekiti and Pastor Sola Ogunlayi at Aiyetoro Ekiti.”
According to the CP, the suspected kidnappers were using different vehicles with tinted glasses to convey their victims to locations from where they demanded ransom from the victims’ families and relations.
“One Nissan Primera car with number plate FST 147 ET and one Peugeot 406 car with number plate KRD 776 EV with tinted glasses belonging to the suspects, which they had been using to convey kidnapped victims, were recovered by the command’s operatives,” Amba said.
