Officers of the Gombe State Prison Command and prison inmates have embarked on the clean-up of the road leading to the Federal Secretariat in Gombe and its environs.
The decision to clean the road was taken after a section of the road was flooded as a result of garbage clogging the drainage channels. The situation led to the disruption of human and vehicular movement on Monday.
This was contained in a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Gambo Bade.
According to him, the state Controller of Prisons, Ahmadu Adamu, who mobilised the personnel and inmates to fix the road, commended the team for a job well done.
He quoted the controller as saying, “As social workers, we are supposed to impact positively on the lives of our neighbours and the community at large.
“You have successfully proven one of the essences of our establishment.”
