Pioneer President, Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide, Dr Felix Tuodolo, says with the appointment of Maxwell Oko as the Executive Director, Finance and Administration, funds belonging to the Niger Delta Development Commission will be properly managed.
Tuodolo said in an interview on Friday that Oko, being one of the founding members of the IYC, was fully aware of the challenges of development of the Niger Delta, noting that with his character and integrity, he would right the wrongs of the past in the NDDC.
He lamented that NDDC, over the years, had been a disappointment, saying the commission had not done what was expected of it by the Niger Delta people.
The former Commissioner for Culture and Ijaw National Affairs, Bayelsa State, who led the processes that led to the famous Kaiama Declaration in 1998, said “we in the struggle in the human rights circle and those struggling for the emancipation of the Niger Delta were very happy to hear the news of the appointment of Maxwell Oko into the NDDC.
“Some of the things we have been talking about over the years, which is the essence of our struggle, is to develop the Niger Delta and the Niger Delta people controlling their resources and managing same.
