The Department of Petroleum Resources has sealed off 13 filling stations and seven LPG refilling outlets across the 13 local government areas and 18 development areas of Nasarawa State for contravening operational standards.
The state’s Operations Controller, DPR, Mr Abdulraham Mohammed, said this during a media briefing in Lafiya on Tuesday.
While giving a breakdown of the affected retail outlets, he noted that they were mostly located in Nasarawa Eggon, Akwanga, Keffi and the Karu local government areas of the state.
He promised that the department would not hesitate to clamp down on anyone who decided to operate illegally or those who breach the terms of their operational licences.
Mohammed said the reasons for sealing off some of the stations were adulteration of products, non-compliance with safety standards, renovation without approval, operating without current licences as well as operating illegally.
“The 11 LPG skids were sealed because their operators were operating illegally. While the only LPG plant sealed by the department was as a result of non-availability of a gas detector and anti spark floor mat in the refilling shed,” he explained.
