Some commercial motorcyclists have attacked a pub, Leisure Class, at Zone 6, Lugbe, a satellite town in the Federal Capital Territory, after their colleague was robbed of his motorcycle by a passenger, who allegedly spiked his drink.
The men, who stormed the pub to avenge the theft of the motorcycle, reportedly stole N18,000 and two mobile telephones after destroying chairs, tables and other amenities there.
A waitress, Felicia Ikoro, who narrated her ordeal to Northern City News on Tuesday, said the incident happened on September 29, 2019.
Ikoro explained that a motorcyclist brought a passenger to the pub and the two men had drinks together.
She said, “The motorcyclist brought a passenger to my shop and the passenger asked me to give the rider a bottle of malt, while the man ordered a beer. He later asked for another bottle of beer and paid me. Later, he said he wanted to use the toilet and went out.
“Some time after, we observed that the motorcyclist had slept off, so we woke him up and he stood up and staggered as if he would fall. He went outside and discovered that his motorcycle had been stolen.
“The second day, we were in the shop when some motorcyclists came with the man, whose motorcycle was stolen, and attacked us. They took N18,000 sales proceeds and my two phones. Later, they came back and destroyed everything in the shop, including tables, chairs and fans.”
Ikoro said the incident was reported at the police station, but no arrest had been made.
She stated that one of the attackers was seen at a car wash a few days after the incident by an eyewitness, but when accosted, he reportedly boasted that they could have done worse things to the owner of the pub for allowing the theft of his colleague’s motorcycle.
When contacted, the FCT police spokesman, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, said he could not provide an update on the investigation as he was out of town.
