The Niger State Police Command has arrested one Filani Mallam of Shambo village in the Rijau Local Government Area of the state for alleged murder.
The suspect, who was paraded before newsmen in Minna on Thursday, was said to have killed one Angulu Makeri of the same address with a cutlass over a misunderstanding.
It was gathered that one Magwino Makeri had earlier reported to the police that his brother left home and did not return.
Police investigation revealed that the suspect engaged Angulu in a fight along the Atabio village road and dealt several machete cuts on him, which caused him to bleed to death.
In an interview with Northern City News, the suspect confessed to the crime, adding that he killed the deceased for “accumulated misunderstanding.”
“I am quick to anger. I hardly forgive people who offend me due to my temperament; I’m ready to send such a person to the great beyond at any given time. I am such a person, who will always retaliate if you wrong me,” he stated.
The spokesman for the state police command, Muhammad Abubakar, confirmed the incident.
Abubakar said police detectives had recovered the murder weapon from the suspect and that he had been charged after confessing to the crime.
