THE Peoples Democratic Party in Bayelsa State has accused soldiers of arresting some of its prominent members at collation centres in the state.
State Chairman of the PDP, Moses Cleopas, also alleged that the General Officer Commanding, 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Jamil Sarham, was using soldiers under his command to commit electoral fraud in the state.
Cleopas listed some of the prominent PDP members purportedly arrested by soldiers as the Ogbia Council Chairman, Ebinyon Turner; and two lawmakers, Gibson Munalayefa and Mrs Naomi Ogoli.
He added that Sarham was spearheading an attempt to rewrite the result of the election in favour of the All Progressives Congress.
The state PDP chairman expressed surprise that the Nigerian Army would “allow itself to be used as a tool to subvert democracy in Nigeria”.
