President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, and his deputy, Ovie Omo- Agege, has congratulated the All Progressives Congress and its candidates on their victory in the governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa states.
The presiding officers of the Senate, stated this in separate statements issued by their media offices on Monday.
Lawan rejoiced with the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, on his re-election and David Lyon for making history as the first governor Bayelsa elected on a platform different from the outgoing ruling party in the state.
He said, “The impressive turnout of voters in the two states is a ringing endorsement of democracy by Nigerians as their preferred system.”
Omo-Agege urged Bello to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people by surpassing his first term achievements.
Also, the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, congratulated Lyon and Bello.
Abiodun in a statement said Lyon’s emergence at the polls on Saturday had ended the 20-year reign of the People Democratic Party in the state.
He said, “I am confident that Mr Lyon will uphold the principles of governance of our great party, the All Progressives Congress.
“My Kogi State counterpart, Mr Yahaya Bello, who got re-elected by the popular vote of the people will reciprocate by being more dedicated to the people.”
