The Nigeria Customs Service Board has approved the appointment of One Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs, three Assistant Comptroller-Generals of Customs and promotion of 2,508 officers to various ranks.
The Public Relations Officer, NCS, Mr Joseph Attah, confirmed the promotion in a statement issued on Wednesday.
He said that the promotion has January 1, 2018 as its effective date.
A breakdown of the promotion showed that 30 officers were promoted from Deputy Comptroller to Comptroller of Customs; 115 from Assistant Comptroller to Deputy Comptroller; and 145 from Chief Superintendent of Customs to Assistant Comptroller.
The service also approved the promotion of 43 officers from Superintendent to Chief Superintendent; 117 officers from Deputy Superintendent to Superintendent; and 565 officers from Assistant Superintendent 1 to Deputy Superintendent.
Also promoted were 998 personnel from Superintendent of Customs II to Assistant Superintendent of Customs I; and 505 officers from Inspector of Customs to Assistant Superintendent of Customs II.
Attah said the newly appointed members of management were DCG David Chikan, ACG Kashim Ajiya, ACG Dinatu Umaru and ACG Yusuf Bashar.
He said deputy comptrollers promoted to the rank of comptroller are AD Sanusi, US Buhari and AI Alfa among others.
He said the Comptroller-General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (retd.), while congratulating the new members of management and the promoted officers, charged them to see their elevation as a call to greater responsibilities.
He urged them to redouble their efforts to consolidate on the gains of the ongoing service reforms.
