Sixteen out of the 19 Peoples Democratic Party’s members in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly have passed a vote of confidence in the state governor, Seriake Dickson.
Speaker of the Assembly, Monday Obolo-Bubou, said in an interview in Yenagoa on Monday that the Assembly had enjoyed “unbroken stability and cohesion” for almost eight years under the leadership of Dickson.
Obolo-Bubou along with 15 members also denied speculation making the rounds that some lawmakers were planning to defect from the ruling PDP to the All Progressives Congress.
He said, “The Assembly has had a robust partnership working with the executive arm of government under Dickson in the development of the state.”
The speaker explained that three members of the party were absent at the meeting due to other official engagements in the interest of the state.
He assured the people of the state that the House of Assembly was committed to ensuring that the ‘restoration government finished strong.
