The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, on Sunday organised prayer to seek divine intervention for the insecurity challenges confronting the country.
Though the special prayer was organised primarily to seek God’s guidance for 85 Ilorin Emirate-born professors, the emir directed the clerics to offer special prayer for restoration of peace in the country.
The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Bashir Salihu, led other clerics to offer special prayer for the nation’s leader, requesting God to win the anti-insurgency and banditry wars in the country.
The emir acknowledged and praised the efforts of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), at curbing insurgency and banditry.
“I commend President Muhammadu Buhari’s efforts at ending insecurity in the country, but of paramount importance is the need for us to seek divine intervention through prayers in overcoming the insurgents,” Sulu- Gambari stated.
The emir also hailed the proactive steps taken so far by the Federal Government to forestall the spread of Coronavirus into the country as well as efforts geared towards halting further spread of Lassa fever.
Sulu-Gambari also congratulated the recently promoted 17 professors from Ilorin Emirate and urged them to use their positions to better the lot of the emirate and Kwara in particular, and Nigeria in general.
