Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, said on Wednesday that plans had reached advanced stage for the provision of relief materials to cushion the effects of the lockdown.
The governor, while giving an update on the COVID-19 pandemic, in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Emmanuel Ekuwem, said a disbursement committee on distribution of palliatives would soon be set up
The statement read, “Plans are underway for provision of relief materials, including rice, garri, flour and other essential food items, to cushion and ameliorate the effects of the quarantine and restriction of movement regulations 2020.
“A disbursement committee will very soon announce the disbursement modalities directly to all villages in Akwa Ibom State.
“This mode of disbursement to villages will enable the items trickle down to give succour to all and sundry.”
The governor said all the five reported COVID-19 persons who tested positive already in isolation were are hale and hearty and awaiting the conduct of reconfirmation test.
