Operatives of Nasarawa State police command have apprehended 10 alleged kidnappers of the Special Adviser on Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development to the governor, Mr John Mamman.
Mamman has since regained his freedom from the hands of his abductors.
A family friend told The PUNCH that the aide was freed on Tuesday night.
Mamman was kidnapped on Saturday evening in his house at Dari, in the Kokona Local Government Area of the state.
The kidnappers had stormed the house and shot into the air before they succeeded in whisking him away.
The kidnappers had earlier demanded N150m ransom, but they later settled for N20m Monday evening.
But it was not clear whether ransom was paid or not before his release.
The state Commissioner of Police, Bola Longe, disclosed on Wednesday that 10 of the alleged kidnappers had been arrested.
His words, “One was arrested during the kidnap, when my personnel from the anti kidnapping unit, Special Anti Robbery Squad State Investigation and Intelligence Bureau and a crack team put pressure on the kidnappers who were behind Government Secondary School, Gudi. The kidnappers released John Mamman and we arrested seven of them.”
The commissioner said he liaised with Vigilante Group of Nigeria to ambush and arrest three Fulani youths on a Honda motorcyle with N1,163,300 along Yelwa-Doma road on Wednesday, but said one escaped while two were in custody.
