Panic in Fagba over a renewed clash between Hausa and Yoruba youths at Iju Ishaga area of Lagos State.
It was gathered that many people are injured in the clash.
A resident identified as Aina, said “We have not been able to leave our homes. They started the fight on Tuesday. We thought it was over yesterday until they renewed the fight again today"
“I don’t know the cause of the fight, but Isaw people running helter-skelter some minutes ago”
Though there are efforts to reach the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, proved abortive. but the lawmaker representing Ifako Ijaiye constituency I, Temitope Adewale, lamented that the “unfortunate happenings” had a grave impact on the infrastructural development of the area.
Adewale said, “Sadly, lives were lost and lots of properties were destroyed. The last three days’ event has added another dark day to our history in Ifako Ijaiye"
“I want to passionately appeal to our energised and teeming youths to stop all forms of violence and destruction in our community"
“I also want to plead and appeal to you our parents, guardians, religious leaders, community elders, and leaders, to appeal to their wards, followers, and members of the community to embrace peace"
“While we continue to nurse our losses and wounds, I have set up a N10 million Emergency Relief Fund for compensations and redevelopment of our community"
“This might not be able to adequately compensate for lives lost and properties but would go a long way in rebuilding our community”
