The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Nigerian President, Femi Adesina, said their generation is on its last lap and the youths want their voice to be heard.
The #EndSARS protests has extortion, police brutality, employments, social amenities, infrastructure among others has part of what the Federal Government should address.
According to the statement titled, ‘It’s in the interest of our youths to keep the peace, says President Buhari’, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Monday was quoted as saying, “Our own generation is on the last lap, we are exiting. It is in the interest of the youth to keep the peace. They want jobs, infrastructure and development.
“I have sent a team led by the Chief of Staff (Prof. Ibrahim Gambari) to go round the country, talk to traditional rulers, who will then talk to the youth. The views of the youth have been heard.”
Buhari was also quoted during the visit of the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, to the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as lamenting on the COVID-19 negative effects on the global economy.
Mohammed, who is also Nigeria’s former Minister of Environment disclosed that she and her team are on the visit due to the challenges caused by COVID-19, climate change, security, and humanitarian responses in the Country.
