On Thursday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission stormed Okey Okirie, a former Special Adviser on Strategy and Statistic’s residence, to the immediate past Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi.
The video which went viral saw the armed operatives, to have emerged from Okirie, and exchanged words with the suspect and his wife.
One of the operatives, who may the leader of the team, answered a call and said, “He is inside his house sir.”
Another operative was seen peeping into the house after they gained entrance into the compound.
One of the operatives when Okirie locked up himself and refused to allow them into the house said they would remain at the house even if it took a week.
Another operative, while answering a question from a female voice believed to be Okirie’s wife, said, “We are from EFCC office.”
Another member of the team said, “You have defrauded somebody money, they are telling you to come and answer your own side.”
However, Okirie’s wife retorted when she was accused of hiding her husband, “You are just saying defraud when you never asked. That is why you are hostile.”
Okirie immediately cut in and said, “You don’t even know the story.”
But the operatives later succeeded in getting into Okirie’s apartment and took him and his wife away.
The Head of Media and Publicity of EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, who confirmed the arrest said it was in connection with a bank loan.
