Maureen Mmadu, a former Super Falcons assistant coach, has reacted to the usage and quenching of drug by young athletes in Nigeria.
Mmadu said it is paramount that young athletes be educated on the negative effects of the drugs on them and its effect in their careers.
It was reported that the Ambassador to the Anambra Football paid a visit to the Sate Commander National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Mohammed Idris, to boon him about the Anambra Female Football Kiddies competition coming up.
The former falcon star said the drug usage rate by young athletes troubles her noting that the project will help in educating them.
Mmadu said, “The project is also aimed at teaching young footballers on the need to stay away from drugs.
“I am worried and concern about the rate of drug usage by young athletes.
“We have a lot of things to teach them apart from football. Doctors will talk to them about the need for healthy living. Many of them don’t know the negative effect of drugs on them; they are kids, so they need to be educated.”
