Bandits on Tuesday attacked three villages in the Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, causing panic in the community.
As a result of the attack, two people were killed and residents were forced to take to their heels.
The villages in which the bandits attack are; Magami, Tungar Haya and Sabon Sara.
A resident of the area, Ibrahim Magami, said the bandits invaded the villages on motorcycles on Tuesday.
He said when the bandits arrived at Magami village; they started shooting indiscriminately and killing one person while other people ran to bush for safety.
He said when the bandits realised that there was nobody in the village; they broke into shops and carted away food items.
Ibrahim said, “The bandits also moved to Sabon Sara village and launched a similar attack during which one person was also killed and food items were stolen.”
“They also went to Tungar Haya, killed one person and set the village on fire.”
The spokesperson for the state police command, SP Mohammed Shehu, said two villages; Magami and Tungar Haya were attacked, noting that three people were killed.
He said, “The attack was as a result of an earlier attack on some Fulani herdsmen during which three of them were killed by the Yansakai group.”
