Mr. Rotimi Olumo, the Coordinator of the Oodua People’s Congress in Oyo State, has said members of the group had been deployed to start grooming bushes, hamlets and villages in the Ibarapa area of Oyo State to fish out herdsmen killing and kidnapping in the area.
Olumo disclosed this after the killing of a former House of Representative candidate, Dr Fatai Aborode, who was shot and hacked to death by herdsmen on his way back from his farm on Friday evening.
He also said farmers in Igangan had come under the frequent attacks from criminal herdsmen.
Olumo in an interview on Monday said the destruction of lives and properties being committed by some herdsmen in Oyo State had become worrisome and embarrassing.
The OPC coordinator however called on Governor Seyi Makinde and all traditional rulers in the state and the South-West to brace up and ensure criminals were not allowed to take over the region.
He said, “We have mobilised our people to stand up and start moving from one hamlet to another to flush out the killers there. You remember that we recently engaged those of them in Kishi forest and dislodged them. I believe they have relocated to Ibarapa area, but we will chase them out.”
