The Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, has called on political office holders to fight poverty in their constituencies.
The governor made the call during the empowerment of women and children in Borno Central on Monday by the Senator representing the Borno Central constituency, Kashim Shettima.
He said, “I must admit many political office holders have been alive to the yearnings of the poor in their constituencies, but I will insist that they continue to do this.
“For those that have yet to join the train, I would ask that they emulate Senator Kashim Shettima by giving back to the people.”
Zulum who lauded the senator said the empowerment materials provided Shettima, remained the largest since he assumed office in 2019.
Shettima had smoothened the empowerment of about 1,000 women and youths across Borno Central with start-up kits and N25,000 cash after an extensive skill acquisition programme.
The governor however urged the beneficiaries to judiciously make use of the materials given to them.
