Followers of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party staged a peaceful protest in front of the party’s Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja, on Thursday, to demand the return of the abducted school children.
The 300 students were abducted by terrorists from the Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, in Katsina State, last Friday night.
The National Chairman of the party, Chief Uche Secondus, who led the protesters, stated that the party just like most Nigerians was shocked by the heartless action of the criminals who kidnapped the children.
However, the party demanded that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) and the ruling All Progressives Congress put more efforts to reunite the children with their parents rather than issuing statements condemning the act.
Secondus said, “This is a peaceful protest to make the entire country and international community to be aware of what is going on in our country.
“And all we’re saying is that Buhari, bring back our boys from Katsina. It is important, we are in pain, the parents are in pain, the entire country is in pain, we’re in agony, we are in sorrow.
“It is high time for the government of the day, the APC government to bring back our boys from Katsina.
“That is the bold statement by PDP today with this peaceful protest.”
